Our Familymoon

Since our wedding ended up happening on April 5th, we went on a "familymoon" before we went on our honeymoon.  We will be doing that too (in July) but it was great to be able to spend a whole week together as a family.  I'm not sure there is a way better than that to strengthen our relationship with one another and with our kids.  It really gave the kids an opportunity to settle into this new situation, and we watched them act more and more like siblings as the week went on.

On our way up to Barrie, Ontario, we stopped at the Toronto Zoo.  It was great and I took lots of pictures on my phone...which unfortunately, I lost by the end of the day.  You will just have to take my word for it that we all had a good time :-)

We stayed at a resort in Barrie where we got to have a "condo" with 2 bedrooms and a full kitchen.  It was like a home away from home - only with a fireplace!  We spent a fair amount of time there just hanging out.

Milk in a bag...:-)

The kids' favorite part about the resort was, of course, the pool.  It had an indoor an an outdoor section, and we took advantage of both!  The kids wanted to swim almost every day (sometimes twice).

Relaxing by the pool

The temperature varied wildly from day to day, and it wasn't always practical to use the outdoor section of the pool.  You would think that a foot of snow would be a deterrent, anyway...

We also checked out a couple different playgrounds, and they actually had some pretty unique pieces of playground equipment that the kids really enjoyed.

This digger and spinny thing were 2 of the favorites

We went to a play called "In Play"...which is basically an arcade with a big indoor playground.  We had the place pretty much to ourselves since the area schools didn't have off.  We ate expensive gross food, and the kids had a blast running around.

Right after that we headed out to go bowling.  There was some impressive technique going on, let me tell you.

We also went to a glow in the dark putt putt place, but...it was in the dark...so we only have one picture.

On the way home, we stopped at the Ontario Science Center.  Apparently I haven't taken those pictures off of Duane's phone yet, so there will be a post coming soon!
